The first exhibition of National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. in Korea

Korea Special Exhibition of Mark Rothko

 

As the first domestic exhibition done with the National Museum of US, Mark Rothko exhibition is an unprecedented large-scale exhibition of over 50 original large oil paintings, valued at at KRW 2.5 trillion (about $22 Billion).

In this exhibition, his artistic soul would be shown by the all the works from the beginning to the end of his life.

In addition, the Rothko Chapel was authentically reproduced at Korea exhibition place; National Geographic chose the Rothko Chapel as the one of the most sacred places that people have to visit during life time.

This exhibition set the record of the most visitors of Seoul Arts Center and was selected as the best exhibition of 2015.

The exhibition was honored by triple crowns, the grand prize of the most visitors, best exhibition award and the best press prize.
